Pendulums
Pendulums have been a form of dowsing, or picking up on subtle vibrations, for centuries. You can use a pendulum to receive answers to questions, check in on the health of your chakras, receive guidance from your higher self/source, and so much more.
Pendulums have been used by people from all walks of life. As far back as Ancient China, to Kemet (Ancient Egypt), to the Roman Empire, and even the Roman Catholic church were big proponents of dowsing with pendulums. Pendulum Dowsing has been used to predict the future and get information via the subconscious mind of Heads of State, generals of armies, and every day people. By holding a pendulum hanging between your fingers, the subtle vibrations of your subconscious are said to make the pendulum swing a certain way to give you the answers to the questions you seek.
A pendulum doesn’t have to be a fancy carved stone/metal on a metal chain. It can be anything that can hang and swing from a cord of any kind. Even a Paperclip or metal nut hanging from a piece of yarn can be a pendulum. As long as you receive clear swings/responses from your chosen/handmade pendulum and you connect to its energy, then you have an energetic tool ready to work.
I prefer gemstone and crystal pendulums (are we surprised?? Haha). I find I connect with my pendulums more when they are stone and not metal so those are the pieces that I create myself. Please find something that works and feels good to you. Most pendulums are created with metal chains to hang the pendulum on. I create with nylon cording and have not seen a difference in response between the two different mediums. Again, find what works for you. I actually use a mix of metal and corded pendulums in my own divination practices as for me it’s all about the response and connect to the energy that call me to use anything.
I do suggest actually having a different pendulum for personal dowsing and other things like client work or different energy modalities. This is a way to keep the pendulum programmed and set for that intention. I have a pendulum for my Akashic Records sessions, another for my Reiki Chakra work, another for Star Seed work, another for choosing client crystals, another for personal work, and the list goes on and on. I am an energy “purist” I guess and like to have my tools always programmed and ready to work for just what they are intended for.
I also suggest that you charge and clear your pendulums often. This can be with selenite, sun, moon, smudge, or your preferred way.
